It seems so much easier to keep oneself healthy and fit in the summertime than it is once winter sets in. During the warm summer months, we tend to be more active, eat more fresh foods and be exposed to more fresh, outdoor air.

The stifling heat of summer is another story. We know that we should take it easy when it’s hot and humid, and that we should be very diligent about drinking enough water, although not enough of us do. I hope you’re doing what you can to experience a balanced body, mind and spirit, wherever you may be.

Let’s go on to the wonderful blog posts and articles included in this week’s Carnival of Healing.

We begin this edition with Raymond David Salas’ fine article about a truly potent and safe way to help alkalize the body. The Benefits of Celtic Sea Salt is posted at ZenChill Power Tools Blog. Here’s another simple way to take in electrolytes and trace minerals to help keep the body’s fluids in balance during extreme heat.

A brilliant collection of valuable resources may be found in Kevin Bedell’s A simple step you can take: Eat more locally grown food posted at 21st Century Citizen. This is truly a key piece of the solution to better health for ourselves, our families, communities and our beautiful planet.

Do you work at a desk? Are you wanting to take off a few nagging pounds around the middle or from your thighs? Has Dianne M. Buxton got the answer for you! Healthy Office Space Workoutsis one of the most brilliant and practical ideas to come down the path in a long while! Find it posted at manifestingsuccess and enjoy!

Craig Harper is simply delicious! Reading any of his posts is as good as a hot fudge sundae made from organic ice cream! Life Beyond the Physical… Exploring the Oogabooga (part one) will likely tickle you in places you forgot were there. Find this and so much more at Motivational Speaker – Craig Harper.

Mary Kearns suggests we Park It the next time we have a free afternoon or want to get away for the weekend. After all, the US is a vacation deprived nation, and our national parks are an amazing resource and they make the perfect setting for nurturing our minds, bodies and spirits. Check out Becoming Your StellarSelf.

My entry, found here at Wisdom of Healing, is a recipe for daily detoxification and yummy, easily utilized nutritional foods blended into a smoothie. Energy Drinks, Delicious and Green! gives you dozens of healthy options to combine to your taste or needs. I hope you enjoy these as much as many of my students have.

edithyeung addresses all those folks, young or mature, who are now awakening to the reality that the mundane life of a typical western citizen is not truly satisfying (no matter how much stuff we may collect), and it’s not what we’re really here for. How to Find Your Greatness (Inspired by Barbara DeAngelis) a simple personal growth assignment for those who choose to find meaning and purpose in life, may well change your life! You may find this and other great lists and articles posted at Beauty and Personality Grooming.

Hello All,

The Carnival of Healing is a collection of articles and thoughts found on blogs and websites from around the globe on topics of holistic health, wellness, spirituality, and self empowerment. It is once again being hosted here at Wisdom of Healing. I wish you well and hope that you enjoy the journey. Here we go…

Aaaaaaah, water; from which all life comes forth. Golbguru gives us 10 Health Reasons Why You Should Drink More Water. You will find this post at the amazing site The Tao of Good Health. I think I’ll go drink a sparkling, delicious glass of water right now!

Kendra suggests that Insurance Coverage for Doula Services is an idea whose time is now! And we are the change, through our conversations and action. Check out more at vbacadventure.com.

Speaking from a very personal place, Raymond David Salas explores the freedom to be found in The Power of Letting Go. You will find it at ZenChill.com Power Tools Blog.

If you are drawn to many interests, love learning new things, and want to do everything you love all at once, you might be a ’scanner’. This post introduces valuable resources and success strategies especially for people who may be scanners. Refuse to Choose – Success Strategies for Scanners, written by Hueina, is posted at her delightful site, Intensive Care for the Nurturer’s Soul. I can say honestly that I fit this concept rather nicely.

My contribution this week is My Introduction to Healing Herbs, which tells the brief story of my first miracle with alternative healing and herbs. I’ve had dozens since! It may be found right here at Wisdom of Healing.

Megan Bayliss exposes her soul as she puts out a call to action for her own life and the well-being of the future generation. Although the title is a bit intense, I can understand the message well. Smoking is Child Abuse posted at Imaginif…. If you’re interested in a natural way to becoming smoke-free, I’ve written about a tried and true method that several folks have used with success called Quit Smoking for Good.

Karen Halls suggests something that approximately two thirds of Americans and millions of other world citizens may want to consider. Weight Loss Without Cravings And No Diet offers tools to get to the core of the issue of being overweight (and often underweight, too). You’ll find it posted at Addiction Recovery Blog.

Linda Martin offers us a very powerful healing tool that may be used virtually anywhere and anytime for physical, emotional and psychic wellness. Check out Chakra Healing Using Spheres of Energy, found at Geniyyah Energy Healing. Thank you, Linda.

I love everything I’ve read from Craig Harper! Here’s a guy with a good attitude, if there ever was one (and he’s so adorable, too)! I’ll bet you’re going to enjoy You’re Not the Boss of Me. posted at Motivational Speaker, too.

Tracee Sioux makes some strong points for moms of daughters to consider in Second Generation Mean Girl posted at So Sioux Me. I hope that there wil be more conversations between moms and daughters, moms and other moms, and moms with school boards to address this important concern. I feel blessed to have two wonderful young adult daughters with a good and compassionate set of values and a consciousness of how all that we say and do affects the whole. Thank you, Tracee.

therapydoc presents her ideas to all the new therapy docs recently graduated from school and ready to begin practice. Alcohol and Your Therapy Doc may be found posted at Everyone Needs Therapy.

Brandon Peele has been inspired by the writings and philosophy of Richard Rose, offering us Psychology of the Observer Book Review posted at Generative Transformation.

Hello All,

For the first time, I will be hosting the “Healthy and Fit Family” carnival this month, and it is full of interesting, and sometimes tasty, little gems for those of us who choose to make a vibrant contribution to the next generation’s well-being. Enjoy!

Stephanie suggests that Family Fun on the Water may be an ideal way for anyone and everyone to stay in shape while having lots of fun! You don’t need a pool or the ocean nearby; just a few towels and swimwear and off you go. This post may be found at Time for Exercise.

The Great Doula Search, found at vbac adventure provides us with Kendra’s personal story as she readies her family for a blessed addition. Afterall; family health begins with a happy and healthy entry into the world. And one of the best ways to give birth to your baby is with the help of a loving doula.

An extremely well researched piece by Expat Chef, A Childhood Nutrition Series: Complete Index is a nine-part series covering the childhood obesity epidemic, food marketing to kids, and what parents can do about it. I especially enjoyed the chapter on solutions, and look forward to much more on the topic.

Wild Greens is as delightful little post on one of my most favorite topics and activities to do with children (and grown-ups, too) of all ages. Greens, especially wild ones, provide us with some of the most easily digested and utilized calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamins, (other) minerals and phytonutrients available. And it’s a lot of fun! Try putting a handful in your salad, omlette or quiche. If you’re vegetarian or vegan, try Stephanie’s recipe, substituting sauteed tempeh pieces for the bacon. Yum!

My contribution this month is a bit of welcome information for most families. Just Say NO to Mosquitoes helps folks to understand how we can safely keep the biting little pests off our loved ones without the use of potentially dangerous chemicals. Aaaaah; I can hear your sighs of relief from here!

Common sense coupled with thriftiness; this post is about adults, but introducing these habits for the whole family sounds like a great way for everyone to be healthy. 12 Cheap Ways To Keep Fit And Stay Healthy offers a sound approach and good information.

Who’d have thought that Dirt is good for your child? Here are some of the research links to prove that it’s true. Today, just tell the kids, “Go play in the dirt!”

Get this; cows are being bred to produce low-fat milk! What’ll they think of next? Meet Marge: The World’s First NonFat Dairy Cow tells us of this lone dairy cow (and her daughters) from New Zealand and the possibilities she possesses.

Exercise should be intergenerational. Resistance training can make Grandma’s and Grandpa’s, and even our own, muscles youthful again. Resistance Training Reverses Aging will tell us how!

And even the smallest babies can enjoy a good walk in nature. Check out the great photos in Hiking in the Marsh on Sunday. Happy baby!

Submissions may be sent for the “13th Healthy & Fit Family” carnival, to be hosted at Babylune on July 3rd, and you may enjoy the Healthy and Fit Family archives, as well.

Enjoy the family life and please be well!

Spring has arrived, and the climate changes seem to be obvious to all those who are willing to see this new and growing reality. It becomes all the more important to really take care of our bodies, minds and spirits as temperatures climb higher and fall lower in the region where we reside. But we are resilient, and claim to be quite intelligent, spiritual beings, so if we listen carefully, see things clearly and feel the energy that’s all around us, we’ll find solutions and create the world we choose to be a part of.

This week’s Carnival of Healing is a lengthy mix of practical and touching posts to inspire vibrant health and personal growth. Please enjoy!

We Americans may choose to substitute juice or leaf of tulsi (Holy basil) with a concentrated tulsi tea. Use two tea bags and only a half cup of boiling water. Cover for 15-30 minutes. And most westerners won’t have jaggery in the cupboard; we could use raw honey! Great suggestions, though.

Here’s an exerpt: ‘When will we realise that we don’t need 1,200 TV channels… perhaps 600 is enough. One of my friends just put a dish on the roof of his house that’s the size of a Hyundai… apparently it picks up Japanese TV stations… the fact that he only speaks English is irrelevant; he wants it. When I pointed out that he didn’t speak Japanese he looked perplexed… then I realised that it wasn’t about actually watching the Japanese stations.. it was about being able to tell his mates that his TV could get Japan.’ Right?

Hello All,

I hope February is finding you healthy and grounded in the beauty of the season. To all of you who submitted posts this week, thank you for your time and efforts. Together, we may make a huge difference in the lives of those needing the messages we offer to our world community.

Let’s start with Teri Robert, who asks us to consider sending our personal response in: Senator Clinton Asks Americans for Input on Improving Healthcare posted at Teri Robert’s Blog. Remember, we all make a difference, and sometimes it’s as simple as sharing a story, a concern or a timely idea.

almomento provides us with a heartfelt half-page lesson in feeling better when we’re really down in: Three Things To Do To Snap Out Of Depression. posted at BurstCreativity. Beautiful!

Linda Freedman (TherapyDoc) is truly one of the most eloquent writers I’ve found out there in the blogosphere. This indepth essay expresses the importance and increased success that is experienced when A.A. is combined with good therapy. Changing Lanes : Alcohol and Anger posted at Everyone needs therapy? Lessons from a family therapist. Thank you, Linda. Your writing is a shining light through modern society’s complicated way of being.

This is one of the best ‘beauty blogs’ I’ve found! Aparna presents us with some fascinating info about one of the world’s great beauty secrets in: Medicinal uses of Pomegranate (Anar) posted at Beauty & Personality Grooming.

This past week, I (finally) completed putting onto paper the story of one of the most challenging and most powerful periods in my adult life. Please read my brief account of when my young daughter was severely burned; how we turned tradegy into triumph, and she experienced a healing miracle in: Protecting Burns found at this site; Wisdom of Healing.

Scott Lee has compiled a list of 20 of the golden little rules for achieving and maintaining good health and a balanced attitude. 20 Ways to Improve Your Life and Health can be found at Dirty Mechanism.

Mary Deyo offers some relief for those who have found themselves feeling lonely and depressed. It’s easy to forget what to do to care for oneself when feeling down, and this post provides gentle, insightful direction in: Cures for Loneliness posted at Dr. Deyo Wants You To Be Happy.

Craig Harper is so cool! I’m not kidding. This post is, simply put, fantastic! We are exactly who we believe ourselves to be, like it or not, and we can change it in a moment with our: Beliefs posted at Renovate your life with Craig.

John Hill has provided us with a disturbing recount of a story that is happening all too frequently in medical offices throughout the land these days. Please read: The Power of a Doctor’s Words posted at Universe Of Success. Thanks, John, for addressing this important issue so thoughtfully.

Hueina is another of the great bloggers out there supporting the greater good.
Surfer Sam says “Did your New Year’s Resolutions include a promise to lose weight? Don’t just talk about it– do it! Small changes like these can lead to big results. Two of my faves from the list are ‘Laughing will help relax you and help you sleep better’ and ‘Have sex’, but I just cannot endorse drinking peppermint tea (I was always taught that peppermint, although very beneficial for an after meal digestive aid, is very stimulating and contraindicated for just before bed), nor ‘Put fresh onions right next to your bed – something about the aroma will put you to sleep’. The long-term aroma of onions can stimulate or be a bit nauseating.

Hello All,

Happy New Year! January always brings a renewed desire to become more healthy and to make wise decisions toward the goal of feeling vibrant and fit. For most of us, these lofty goals don’t stay with us for long. In fact, most people are back to their same ol’ unhealthy ways before February begins.

But it crtainly doesn’t have to be this way. We can take small bites, so to speak. In this way, we may make a few small changes, get them to ’stick’, and then make a few more. Pace ourselves. Believe we can do it because we’re seeing results. So let’s get down to the business at hand; reading some great blog posts on the topic of healing. Allow the ones that resonate with you and your needs and desires to move you to action, gently and lovingly.

Hello All,

Here are the ‘winning entries’ for the Carnival of Healing #62 for December 2, 2006. Thanks to all who sent this great information in. May we all glean the gems we need in this moment to further grow and create goodness in our paths.

I love to find other excellent natural health writers that really tell it like it is! The real truth about natural health is hard to find, but Vreni Gurd presents a convincing argument for ditching the processed foods and nurturing the body with the vital nutrients found in organic foods in: Eat – What is organic food? posted at the excellent site: wellness tips. There are lots of gems here!

Linda Freedman has written a very moving account on parenting, specifically good fathering in: About Affection: Part 3 posted at her very poignant blogsite: Everyone needs therapy? Lessons from a family therapist. If you are a parent, mark this one as a ‘MUST READ’ and share it with your friends and loved ones. Our young people are crying out for us to remember to show our love for them every day, and it’s time for us, as the adults, to step up to the plate and help to ground the next generation in the power of love and gratitude!

Pets love us unconditionally and on the deepest levels, and Mercurial Scribe shares the healing effect this love has in: Whisper to a Shout posted at Mercurial Scribe. Visit your local shelter soon, and open your heart to the extent that you are able to the love that we all could use just a little bit more of.

John Briffa offers some interesting information regarding wintertime blues in: How vitamin D deficiency in winter poses hazards for our health (and what to do about it), posted at A Good Look at Good Health. His recommendation of cod liver oil daily throughout the winter can indeed be very helpful, but as I always recommend, purchase the very highest quality product available. The two best brands of cod liver oil, from the research I’ve done, are Carlson’s and Nordic Naturals. (Some other brands have been found to be contaminated with very high amounts of heavy metals, including lead and mercury.)

Patricia has provided us with a list of very practical ideas for those days when your body just needs to break down, rest and recover. How To Use A Sick Day To Change Your Life is posted at A Better You Blog. Personal growth happens when we give it attention, even when we’re feeling a bit under the weather.

We all create the world we live in every time we spend a dollar or pay a bill. Barbra Sundquist has written a beautiful brief post on the importance of choosing where we spend our hard-earned cash in: Compassion and Business: Not Mutually Exclusive, posted at HomeBusinessWiz. Thank you, Barbara!

Chris Gribble shares with us a wonderful guided meditation to quiet, create and invigorate in: A Celtic Meditation Exercise – Hand Meditation posted at ChrisGribble.com.

This might be ideal for those of us who are hoping to be more disciplined on the path to achieving our goals.

Renée Alexandrea presents a list of perfect reasons for offering our four legged friends the pleasures of pet massage in: 10 Benefits of Therapeutic Canine Massage ~~ Small Dogs Paradise : Holistic Approach to Pampering Small Dogs posted at a great site: Small Dogs Paradise. Any dog would feel thankful to know that their person has checked out this fine post.

Mary Emma Allen has written about the importance of caring for ourselves when we are the caregiver for a loved one. Please read: Healing and the Alzheimer’s Caregiver posted at Alzheimer’s Notes.

Wow! lorenzo provides us with a great exploration of our dream time in: Dreams: The Ultimate Second Life posted at RealitySeeds. This one’s certainly worth sharing with others!

John Hill suggests that, because we learn much from our past, we are always where we need to be in Why You Should Never Worry, posted at Universe Of Success .

Michelle Wood offers some sane advice about the importance of eating whole grains in: Friday Food Pharmacy: Pasta & other grain (& sometimes fruit) products found at Living Stress-Free~Naturally.

Dr. Deb offers us a few useful tools for getting through the winter months when we suffer with Seasonal Affectiveness Disorder (SAD). Dr. Deborah Serani: It’s That Time of Year Again: Seasonal Affective Disorder posted at Dr. Deborah Serani.
